In addition to briefing the indexer and copyediting the index supplied in Word, the Desk Editor resolved queries or errors that arose as a result of indexing: an indexer will often unearth minor anomalies in the text that need clarification. In this book, the names of two different organizations had scrambled; thanks to the indexer’s analysis and the author’s timely correction this was put right in the final proof.
